From 19 to 23 December 2022, we invite you to the Central University Library “Mihai Eminescu” Iasi, in Păcurari street no. 4, where the book exhibition “The Magic of Christmas” will take place.
The exhibition is part of the project “Restoration and rehabilitation of the historic building of the Central University Library “Mihai Eminescu” Iasi” and presents a selection of books on Christmas. Its three sections intertwine and highlight the brightness of this holiday, the joy that emanates from it and the traditions kept for generations.
The section “Christmas customs and traditions” presents a very diversified repertoire from the Moldavian area of carols, howls, games of specific characters of the holiday: Irods, Stars, Lightning, Goats, Bears, as well as the traditional dolls’ crate.
The “Gastronomy” section presents a variety of books with culinary dishes specific to the Moldavian area, respecting the religious calendar and highlighting the beauty and unmistakable taste of Moldovan cuisine.
The section “Specific Christmas Parties” presents a spread of books and pictures of Iasi balls and parties at the manor houses, which could be compared to parties in the big European cities.
The opening will take place on 19 December 2022, starting at 13:00, and will be followed by a wine and chocolate tasting.
