From 19 to 23 December 2022, at its headquarters in Păcurari 4, the Central University Library “Mihai Eminescu” Iasi organizes the book exhibition “The Magic of Christmas”.
Its three sections intertwine and bring out the brightness of this holiday, the joy that emanates from it and the traditions kept for generations.
The Christmas customs and traditions section presents a very diversified repertoire of carols from the Moldavian region, howls, games of specific characters of the holiday: Irods, Stars, Lightning, Goats, Bears, as well as the traditional dolls’ crate.
The Gastronomy section presents a variety of books with culinary dishes specific to the Moldavian area, which respect the religious calendar and highlight the beauty and unmistakable taste of Moldovan cuisine.
The Christmas Parties section presents a spread of books and pictures of Iasi balls and parties at the manor houses, which could be compared to parties in the big European cities.
The books are part of the collections of the Central University Library “Mihai Eminescu” Iasi and present the history of this city under the imprint of Christmas celebrations.
The opening will take place on 19 December 2022, starting at 13:00, in the exhibition space on the first floor of the central building.
The opening will be followed by a wine and chocolate tasting.
